I’m a lucky man with a lonely start I’m living in a place nobody gives a damn about I live my lonely life with some lonely friends in my lonely town I’m that kind of guy who tried to move to the city I almost choked because everybody is trying to look so pretty I live my lonely life with some lonely friends in my lonely town PADADA I’m a lucky man with a lonely start I’m living in a place nobody gives a damn about I live my lonely life with some lonely friends in my lonely town

I’ve got my entire life in a big old box I took it along with me the entire year it’s hard to know when I’m finally home it’s hard to know when my troubles are gone I moved houses twice this year left a lot of my spirit around everywhere it’s hard to know when I’m finally home it’s hard to know when my troubles are gone Life ain’t easy when you break it but even harder when you fake it Rip off the band-aid, cry out your heart when breaking up feels like the hardest part Tomorrow rain will fall and the sun will rise tomorrow will hit you hard, but you’ll be surprised Time to go, time to go they’ll say time to let it all wash away Life ain’t easy when you break it but even harder when you fake it rip off the band-aid, cry out your heart when breaking up feels like the hardest part … when breaking up feels like the hardest part

We run to the water for two buckets of dreams for trees that are waving for my love to be seen Drown me in red curtains drown me in the pain lift me up slowly and enter my brain Don’t give up the spirit get lost every day you could be a lover you could be afraid Don’t get too wasted don't get tired of your dreams everyone is waiting for me to be free Sometimes I win sometimes I lose sometimes I’m happy sometimes I don’t know what I’m here for She holds my head she gets me a drink she loves me forever at least that’s what we think So we run to the water for two buckets of dreams my friends are all waving and get along with the stream Sometimes I win sometimes I lose sometimes I’m happy sometimes I don’t know what I’m here for So we run to the water for two buckets of dreams for trees that are waving for my love to be seen Drown me in red curtains drown me in the pain lift me up slowly and enter my brain Sometimes I win sometimes I lose sometimes I’m happy sometimes I don’t know what I’m here for

I dream about planes and I dream about the highway I dream about my friends who live so far away I dream about the North and I dream about Atlanta But dreams stay dreams these days I wish I could be on both sides I wish I could live a normal life When I dream about the North and I dream about Atlanta dreams stay dreams these days Time flew by when I went back to my own country and now times stands still and I’m oh so far away If I could catch a plane, I would be there before tomorrow but dreams stay dreams (I live a hundred years away) I dream about a sunnier place I dream about finding other ways It’s gonna be like this for a long time dreams stay dreams these days Time flew by when I went back to my own country and now times stands still and I’m oh so far away If I could catch a plane, I would be there before tomorrow but dreams stay dreams (I live a hundred years away) Time flew by when I went back to my own country and now times stands still and I’m oh so far away If I could catch a plane, I would be there before tomorrow but dreams stay dreams (I live a hundred years away) (I live a hundred years away) (I live a hundred years …)

about

In the last week of February 2020, I flew over to Atlanta to visit my good friends, Rhett and Philip. This was right before the pandemic became a serious issue. I flew back to the Netherlands almost on the day the world shut down air travel. We made a promise to see each other at least twice a year. We already had plans in place to record some stuff together.
In November 2021, after the worst period of the pandemic, we finally got a chance to get the group back together again and took all the time we had to record the first Roofman album at Clouds Hill in Hamburg, Germany. That was the first time we actually made music together and we liked it! Rhett was telling me about his plans of building his own studio in Atlanta. ”When my studio is done I wanna record an EP with you in my basement.”
About two years later (in May 2023) here I am, sitting in Atlanta, picking a couple of my songs that would fit the Atlanta band and session; Rhett (guitar/producing), Philip (bass), me, and a very talented musician, Chad (drums/keys), who I’ve never met before. Rhett got his hands on a vintage Tascam 388 8-track tape machine. We like it analog and old. In 4 days, we recorded 5 songs. It was just a couple of friends making music in a basement and trying to capture the moment.

about

Roofman Ermelo, Netherlands

Having accepted the fact that life may well be pointless, Roofman remains a romantic nonetheless. Reminiscing about nature, nurture, love as well as our simple daily thoughts, his lyrics paint the pictures we never thought we’d find the words for.
